A look inside

See exactly what shows up in your mailbox

Each month you receive four excerpts from some of humanity's best literature (one for every week of the month). Here's an example of exactly what you can expect.

Four weekly Human by Hand folios spread on a wooden table: Week One Les Misérables, Week Two Moby Dick, Week Three Anna Karenina, and Week Four Jane Eyre

01 — The cover

One excerpt for each week of the month

Every package contains four literary packets, one for each week of the month. The cover tells you what you're about to read: the week, the work, and the author. Printed on heavy, warm cardstock paper, human-designed, and built to sit on your desk all week long.

Great writing, plus a guide to why it's great

Open the packet and you'll find the excerpt on the left, set in a generous type size meant for slow reading. On the right: "What to watch for as you read" — a close reading of the passage's structure, imagery, word choice, and rhythm. Read it, copy it by hand, and you'll start noticing those same moves in your own writing.

Daily prompts to write your way through the week

The back of each packet carries seven daily writing prompts drawn from the themes of that week's excerpt. This is where you'll let your human side shine. Once you've completed the copywork from that week's excerpt, we want you to have something to write every day of the week.
